How to: Installation Upload Files and Set Permissions Unzip the file you received upon purchase of Creative News. This is a zipped file that requires a decompression utility such as Winzip. After you have decompressed the zipped file, open the file 'anm3.8.pl'. Edit the first line of this file and change it to your path to perl. The most common path to perl is '#!/usr/bin/perl'. Next upload 'anm3.8.pl', 'cgi-lib.pl', 'upload.pl' to your cgi-bin folder ( you can use a different folder if your server allows it). Change the permissions for the three files to '755' (Owner: Read, Write and Execute; Group: Read and Execute; Other: Read and Execute). Now create a folder in the cgi-bin directory, name the folder 'anm3.8data'. Next upload the following files into the 'anm3.8data' folder in ASCII mode: config.packed Change the permissions on all of the .packed and .html files to '766'. (Owner: Read, Write and Execute; Group: Read and Write; Other: Read and Write). Next, read the section 'User Accounts', to change the default password. Important Information: The file 'template.html' stored in the directory 'anm3.8data' is used by Creative News for all news searches, and archive browsing. There is only one required marker for this template, '[[anm]]'. You can create your own template.html, and place the '[[anm]]' marker anywhere in the HTML file. Active News Manager will replace this maker with the news search results. |
